Cuepup

Music IDIn development

Find library music in a mix. Prepare a usage report.

Music ID compares a finished mix or reference cut with the music library you supply. It reports likely matches, estimated timings and source details to help prepare a cue sheet: a record of the music used.

In active development and tested in-house. It searches the supplied library, and a person checks the matches and timing.

Pipeline

How it works

From your library to data you can review.

  1. 01

    Fingerprint the library

Each track is indexed for fingerprint-based matching, followed by audio verification. Nothing is embedded in or added to the original files.

    Originals untouched
  2. 02

    Analyze a mix

A delivered score WAV, an editor's reference video, or the broadcast copy with dialogue on top. Optional source separation helps reveal music under dialogue.

  3. 03

    Identify

Matched library sources, estimated entry and exit timecodes, source offsets, edits, layers and levels. Equivalent files are listed when the audio cannot distinguish them.

    Deliver

Export cue-sheet data for review, a detailed piece list and placement data for import into a supported audio workstation.

How we check it

Check the matches, the misses and the timing.

We compare recognition results with known music placements from our own projects, including mixes with dialogue. We examine wrong matches, missed music, extra detections and entry and exit timing.

These are in-house development tests. They do not establish performance on every library or mix. We are improving recognition and making the results easier to review; matched music-use data still needs human checking.

Files you receive

Matched uses, source details and placements.

  • Cue sheet · CSV

Project, episode, song-family name, in/out timecodes, duration and the owner/source information you supply.

  • Piece list · CSV

Source files and offsets, layers, estimated levels and equivalent-file alternatives for each matched piece.

  • Placement data · TSV

Timed source placements for import into a supported audio workstation, alongside a JSON report.

Composer, publisher, licensing and territory details are not resolved automatically. Review and complete the export for your broadcaster or rights society's requirements.

Use cases

  • Prepare cue-sheet data for review

Matched music uses and timecodes exported as CSV, with source offsets in the separate piece list.

  • Find the temp track in your library

Compare the editor's reference cut with your indexed library and inspect matched sources and equivalent alternatives.

  • Review music in a broadcast copy

Analyze the broadcast copy for matched library music, with timing estimates to review.

Honest limits

  • Music outside your indexed library is not identified.
  • Identical-sounding files cannot always be distinguished; alternatives are reported.
  • Pitch-shifted or time-stretched music is not currently supported.
  • Quiet music or music masked by dialogue can be missed.
  • Music entry and exit times are estimates. Exits under dialogue need particular care.
